AvePoint’s Big Week at TechEd North America 2012

By Kristi B.

AvePoint helped celebrate Microsoft TechEd North America’s 20th birthday in style!
Last week was a busy week for the AvePoint team at TechEd North America 2012 in Orlando, FL. We made our presence known with countless demos of DocAve 6 as well as our newly announced products, DocAve File Share Navigator and DocAve Governance Automation. We like to keep our Technical Solution Professionals (TSPs) busy at our events!
We were proud to be asked by the Microsoft TechEd team to be one of the only sponsors showcased in the “TechEd 2012 - Top 5 - Day 1” video during the event. Our own TSP Aashish Warty was interviewed about the latest AvePoint products, and the video was showcased on the TechEd North America homepage as well displayed on-site all week on the video wall. The video can now be viewed here on YouTube.
On Tuesday, Microsoft SharePoint MVP and AvePoint Chief SharePoint Evangelist Dan Holme gave a well-attended session on SharePoint governance, followed by a book signing. With such a large following, the lines were long but Dan graciously spent extra time to make sure he got to everyone. We are always happy to have Dan around.
In conjunction with our June 7 press release on AvePoint’s Full Support for Organizations on Office 365 and Windows Azure Virtual Machines, Steve Fox, Director, MCS, Microsoft alerted TechEd attendees about our partnership with Microsoft on this product set. AvePoint was singularly called out during his terrific presentation on Why SharePoint and Windows Azure are Just Plain Better Together as a partner. Thank you, Steve!
In addition, we gave away a red hot Ducati – this time, a shiny 2012 Ducati Monster 796 – among a crowd of more than 1,700 of our closest friends. The lucky winner and new owner of the AvePoint Ducati is none other than Greg Burns, of The Hershey Company. He’s excited to get it home, but more excited about the rock star status he just earned with his son! The buzz and amount of attendees swarming our booth was at a fever pitch this year. It brought the fire marshal front and center, which led to some quick maneuvers by our team so the drawing wasn’t shut down. Fire marshals and Microsoft TechEd show management always trump standard operating procedure. Nothing like accommodating changes on the fly, but that’s one of the main jobs of any event producer. You need to maintain grace under pressure (hopefully) and land a “10” on recovery.
Here’s a photo of Greg and his new bike with the AvePoint team:
On the final night, we had a great evening with our partners and customers at the TechEd Attendee Party at Universal's Islands of Adventure theme park!
Throughout the event, we filmed some great interviews with attendees, who were happy to share their thoughts on SharePoint governance and what they loved most about the DocAve 6. You can watch those videos and more on our YouTube channel. Also, be sure to visit our Facebook page to see some photos from the event.
Well, that’s a wrap here! Next up: I’ll be hopping across the Atlantic to attend Microsoft TechEd Europe 2012 – more to come from Amsterdam!
Did you attend TechEd North America 2012? What was your favorite part of the event? Leave a comment and let us know!
