Don’t mistake activity for productivity

The digital age offers an incredible number of new options and methods to enhance your solution stacks. For instance, Microsoft Teams gives Microsoft Office 365 subscribers greater ability to boost collaboration and teamwork at a distance. As people started working from home in record numbers starting in March 2020, Microsoft Teams became essential technology, and usage surged more than 110%.

But, already-overextended IT teams might not have resources to keep up with the spike in activity and its attendant productivity, security, and governance needs. A recent survey of IT professionals conducted by the Association for Intelligent Information Management (AIIM), and commissioned in part by AvePoint, found that 63% of respondents spent four to eight hours or more a week doing routine SharePoint governance tasks such as provisioning, changing permissions, and altering site settings—all time taken from other, more strategic tasks.

This surge in remote work creates more Teams users as well as a higher level of usage by each user, as even slow adopters within organizations have no choice but to use new technologies and Teams pilot projects get accelerated.
