I had the distinct honor and pleasure to take the stage this morning with Mark Russinovich, Technical Fellow in the Windows Azure group at Microsoft, to talk about the future of productivity – building, deploying, and managing applications in the cloud – with 8,000 of my closest colleagues at Microsoft TechEd Europe 2012. Additionally, I gave a live demonstration of DocAve Replicator for SharePoint and highlighted how we believe Windows Azure and AvePoint’s DocAve Software Platform can help:
1. Azure could be used to spin up Microsoft SharePoint servers for a new farm in less than an hour, while business-critical site collections can be restored granularly with DocAve using backups in cloud storage.
2. Administrators can use DocAve to configure settings or report across multiple farms, including ones hosted on Windows Azure, simultaneously.
3. DocAve Governance Automation can provide a service catalog to allow business users to make service requests with an approval process for policy-based site collection provisioning.
4. DocAve can granularly migrate or replicate down to a list or item level, for example, replicating published videos from an on-premises intranet to an extranet hosted on Azure.
A link to the keynote address can be found here – if you’re interested in the DocAve demonstration, I come on at the 1:23 mark.
