AvePoint published a new case study with Coeur d’Alene Casino Resort Hotel (CCRH). Based in Worley, Idaho, CCRH is a wholly-owned enterprise of the Coeur d’Alene Tribe, a federally-recognized sovereign Indian tribe.
Like many organizations, CCRH saw great promise in moving its collaborative environment to the cloud through Microsoft Office 365. After hosting its Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) 2007 environment on premises for several years, CCRH decided to upgrade to Office 365 – SharePoint Online. The upgrade would allow CCRH administrators to reduce hardware expenses, scale its environment with greater ease, and save the five hours per week required to maintain on-premises servers.
However, CCRH’s administrators knew that the migration to the cloud could be a time consuming process and estimated it could take almost two years to complete on their own. In order to save time and automate the migration process, CCRH relied upon DocAve Migrator and DocAve Content Manager. With DocAve, CCRH was able to:
· Upgrade from MOSS 2007 directly to Microsoft Office 365 – SharePoint Online 50 percent faster than native abilities would have required
· Migrate a list with 30,000 items to the cloud in 10 minutes – 86 percent faster than the hour and a half required by native abilities
· Reduce overall SharePoint data by approximately 14 percent upon upgrade through granular migration abilities – only migrating data needed by the business to SharePoint Online
· Maintain compliance with internal policies by migrating data with full fidelity – including all permissions – and ensuring users did not gain access to content outside of their security levels in the SharePoint Online environment
