Details:

Unable to install RBS on certain content databases and, DocAve.SP2010.Storage.RBSTool.exe on the WFE server under C:\Program Files (x86)\AvePoint\DocAve5\Agent\bin is also not working.

Cause:

The following exception can be found:

[ManagedThreadName=]Exception when adding master key into content db : pass=******ed. The pass=******indows policy requirements because it is too short.   at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection.OnError(SqlException exception, Boolean breakConnection)

When installing RBS to a content database, a MasterKey needs to be created. Since the MasterKey created by DocAve uses 9 characters, if the minimum length requirement has been customized to be longer than 9 characters, DocAve will not be able to create a MasterKey.

Solution:

  1. Naigate to Administrative Tools > Local Security Policy > Account Policies > Password Policy
  2. In the option for the minimum password length, set the value to 9 or lower and enable RBS again.
