Global mindset, by definition, “combines openness to and awareness of diversity across cultures and markets with a propensity and ability to see common patterns across countries and markets.” If you’re considering joining the AvePoint team, you may be wondering: How does AvePoint incorporate a global mindset into its company culture and corporate identity?
The World is an Oyster
At AvePoint, we view cultural and geographic diversity as an opportunity to adopt successful job practices and strong ideas, wherever they come from. With offices around the world, cultivating a global mindset is essential. To be successful in a global role, our current and future employees need to be capable of adjusting to different environments and working effectively with international teams, managers, and direct reporting lines. From having the time-zone flexibility to schedule calls in the evening or early morning to accommodate international colleagues, to appreciating the variety of personalities at the organization, being globally-minded is critical for AvePoint—and each of its employees—to thrive.
Communication is Key
At AvePoint, we use various strategies to implement and develop a global mindset. Open communication channels and a culture of mutual trust is the first step. A balanced top-down process and continuous interaction are also critical to our company culture.
How do internationally-dispersed colleagues stay in touch with each other at AvePoint? As the Microsoft Cloud expert, it may not come as a surprise that we implement Microsoft technologies like Yammer, Skype for Business, and Microsoft Teams to update each other on projects and news—often through emojis and GIFs!
Recognize Peers, Prepare Leaders
We cultivate an inclusive atmosphere and benchmark our cultural values on an ongoing basis. For example, every quarter we hold Peer Recognition Nominations for employees across all teams and cultures. Recognizing each other’s accomplishments is something we take seriously!
Through management training, we’ve also established an effective global leadership team. Our managers focus on being culturally aware, and are prepared to work with and supervise teams across different countries—with all its challenges and rewards.
Flex Your Strengths
In 2017, we initiated our plan to become a strengths-based organization through the Gallup StrengthsFinder assessment. Employees not only discover their top 5 strengths, but they also identify their natural talents through one-on-one coaching and team workshops. We use strengths-based initiatives to support our employees on a day-to-day basis to overcome language barriers, as well as recognize individual opportunities for growth.
A global mindset with diverse teams and leaders gives everyone a chance to grow. At AvePoint we regard our employees as our capital of success. We therefore work continuously on a culture of appreciation and international awareness.
