Our Continued Commitment to Delivering Comprehensive Enterprise Collaboration Solutions

There is truly never a dull moment in the Microsoft SharePoint ISV marketplace – as was evidenced once again today when it was announced that Metalogix acquired MetaVis Technologies. From AvePoint’s perspective – just like previous, similar acquisitions – we view this exciting change as further validation of our continued devotion to supporting comprehensive enterprise solutions for all collaboration environments – whether in the cloud, on premises, or in hybrid deployments.

Since our inception in 2001 and subsequent work with some of the world’s largest customers and systems integrators, a core principle of our business has been to provide fully integrated solutions to help you enable enterprise collaboration across platforms and devices. It all began with DocAve Software, which quickly became the enterprise-class infrastructure management platform for SharePoint. Presently, our flagship solution allows more than 13,000 organizations to use SharePoint sustainably, securely, and productively through one centralized interface. To this day, we’ve built all of this entirely organically, with our 800+ member research and development team creating solutions here in house that are designed to work together and complement one another from the very start. When it comes to information management, this is why AvePoint continues to lead the way with our integrated software solutions for data migration, governance, and compliance.

As collaboration needs began to push toward the cloud in recent years, we stayed ahead of the trend to meet customer needs with the release of AvePoint Online Services in 2013. AvePoint Online Services is the industry’s first and only 100% Microsoft Azure-based Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform for Microsoft Office 365 – now enabling more than 21,000 customers worldwide to simplify administration, compliance, governance, and file share presentation with neither installation nor agents required. Like the Office 365 software upgrade experience, AvePoint Online Services customers receive seamless monthly updates. Whether the cloud is right for your business, you’ve chosen to stay on premises, or you’re adopting a hybrid approach that combines both, we’re here to fully support your collaboration journey every step of the way.

Even more than today’s news, however, we’ve seen validation that this comprehensive approach works best from our customers themselves. As I mentioned in a blog post published earlier this week, our average customer relationship is longer than seven years. This is a strong testament to our model of integrated long term engagement that is designed to empower customers as collaboration needs continually grow and evolve. Our award-winning products go beyond simple point solutions, and our aim has always been to be a long-term, trusted collaboration advisor rather than just a one stop shop. Our legacy of proven, future-ready solutions gives our customers peace of mind that they have a partner throughout their digitization journey. For us, though, technology is only the beginning, as we offer our customers extensive services and multilingual, 24/7 support (from our global offices in Jersey City, Tokyo, Singapore, Munich, and Beijing) to ensure continued success. Don’t just take my word for it, though. Hear about it from the customers themselves.

At AvePoint, these validations inspire us to continue our path of innovation while building upon the foundation we’ve already established, offering customers truly centralized, fully integrated solutions that enable collaboration at all ends of the business with world-class service and support.

  1. Curious as to what AvePoints strategy going forward will be, all in in terms of cloud or will on-prem still be in scope?

    • Our strategy will focus on supporting the full range of on-premise, hybrid, and all cloud enterprise collaboration deployments. Information management across platforms and devices, with enterprise strength data compliance and governance capabilities, is the key need going forward. So no so much just infrastructure management, but information management and analytics.

      • How about automatic information classification based on concepts? That seems to be a compliance gap in SharePoint that I am not sure anyone has bridged. Being able to automatically tag that information will better enable the built in DLP functionality as well as construct workflows to protect data that is deemed to be of a more secure nature.

        • Josh-Thanks for your question-actually this is an area that AvePoint has addressing with our Compliance solutions for many years now. We provide data discovery, scanning, tagging and classification capabilities for content both on premises and in the cloud. Whether your data is stored on file shares, in SharePoint or on Office 365 we can help you identify and protect sensitive data. Our solutions have been identified in the most recent Gartner MQ for DLP as a “company to watch” in the space. With many enterprise global companies using our technologies to solve their compliance headaches, we think the cloud will be more and more of a “secure” reality for our customers as they move forward.

  2. I have mentioned this to many AvePoint Employés and i will continue to do so 🙂 Customers would rather use another migrating Tool than DocAve as the licens model is plain stupid, the market is not asking for pricing based on GB/TB but a flat licens fee as other vendors offers.
As you mention ” neither installation nor agents required” (out of context I know), but lets ahve a migrating Tool from AvePoint with no agent no installation for the small migrating jobs, then customers can use only 1 vendors software DocAve.

    • Hi Matis,

Migration is a project, so we know it’s a “one and done” type process and that’s where we arrived at the Per 100 GB model. We aim to provide the absolute best support possible and we know migration is a costly endeavor for our clients but it also is for AvePoint as we ensure we don’t leave your side until the last document or application has been properly classified and migrated. Sometimes these projects are one month endeavors while at other times theses are 10TB migration projects that could take up a year where we send onsite engineers

AvePoint doesn’t just sell our customers and partners a product and forget it. Instead, we invest in the relationship and that’s why on average our customers have financial contracts with us longer than 7 years.

Now if you do have small and very well defined migration projects, our sales representative can definitely work with you to achieve a good outcome. One size certainly doesn’t fit all but we will do our best to help you.

      • Totally respect your position here TJ, but for smaller markets like New Zealand, where I am based the offering by one of your competitors ticks all the boxes for migrations of most of our scale. I’d love to see you guys shake the tree a bit and look at how you can provide value in this space in our tiny market.

        • Hi Gavin,

Thank you for your note! Please reach out to our ANZ team and they will shake trees for you! Btw, we will have physical presence in NZ in a matter of weeks 🙂

          Best,
          TJ

  3. Hi Karin,

That’s an excellent question! AvePoint’s strategy is to ensure we have a broad range of solutions available for our customers who have equally broad implementation strategies. Since the launch of our Online Services platform over three years ago we are still the only ISV in this space that has a multi-tenant SaaS solution for the “Cloud Cowboy” committed 100% to O365 and the “Adventurous Enterprise” that has a heavy O365-D presence. Of course the “Classic Enterprise” embracing a Hybrid model has a home with our flagship server software as well.

On-Prem is going to be in scope for a long time still and we plan on being able to service both type of customers with equal support. I can guarantee you’ll see some exciting things about Hybrid at Ignite from Microsoft…and AvePoint 😉

    • Hi Tim,

Our infrastructure management platform, DocAve, does full hybrid environment support from a single interface. This means any number of on-prem, hosted, or O365 environments. We have been supporting these scenarios for over 2 years now

      Best,
      TJ

      • Will DocAve be showcased at Microsoft Ignite? We are beginning to look at vendors for governing our upcoming Office 365 environment.

        • Hi Brandon,

of course, please swing by our booth at Ignite to see DocAve in action for full hybrid environment management; as well as AvePoint Online Services, Azure based SaaS solution to manage O365 platform, including Exchange Online. you can also check these products out via our website as well as schedule demos with our sales team if you would like to see our products and solutions before Ignite 🙂

          TJ
