This year, we introduced a personal and professional development program in which all AvePoint employees discover their top 5 strengths by taking the Gallup StrengthsFinder assessment.
The goal of becoming a strengths-based organization is to allow employees the opportunity to learn more about what they do best, as well as cultivate and apply their talents through supportive resources on a day-to-day basis. Doing so encourages satisfaction, engagement, and success in what they do. As the founder of Gallup’s StrengthsFinder Donald O. Clifton explains:
“What will happen when we think about what is right with people rather than fixating on what is wrong with them?”
To nurture and reinforce what our employees are naturally talented at, we have rolled out several strengths development initiatives:
- One-on-one coaching with a certified strengths coach for each employee to jumpstart the development process
- Team workshops to foster awareness on building strategic partnerships
- Management training to enable supervisors to support the development of their employees’ strengths
- Plenty of fun activities to help everyone “exercise” their strengths; Employees earn rewards like company-catered lunches and monetary awards to apply towards personal, talent-growing activities—think gym memberships, airfare, or a cooking or art class!
Based on more than 70 years of research, Gallup has found that when people have the chance to do what they do best, tasks become easier, more enjoyable, and individuals can excel faster. We’re excited to continue our journey as a strengths-focused organization and provide all our staff with the opportunity to utilize their natural talents and “flex their strengths”!
