AvePoint Receives Certificate of Networthiness from U.S. Army
Certification clears AvePoint’s SharePoint infrastructure management technologies for deployment throughout the US Army’s IT infrastructure
December 1, 2009, Jersey City, NJ — The U.S. Army Network Enterprise Technology Command (NETCOM) today announced that it has granted AvePoint a Certificate of Networthiness for the DocAve Software Platform, the company’s flagship SharePoint infrastructure management solution. The certificate is required for all external software that is deployed on the U.S. Army’s networks. Following a rigorous, three-month reliability and security assessment, NETCOM has confirmed that AvePoint’s SharePoint infrastructure management technologies exceed U.S. Army requirements for security, reliability, scalability, and interoperability with the organization’s existing networks and IT infrastructure.
“AvePoint is honored and proud to receive the Certificate of Networthiness from the U.S. Army”, said David Juntilla, VP of Federal Business at AvePoint. “This serves as another testament to our ongoing commitment to deliver the most powerful and secure SharePoint infrastructure management solutions to our DoD customers. The U.S. government has long been AvePoint’s largest customer, and this certification will allow us to more fully support Army administrators as they design and deploy efficient, secure, and fully optimized SharePoint-based solutions within their units.”
AvePoint’s SharePoint infrastructure management solutions are expected to be a critical component of the comprehensive knowledge management system being deployed by the U.S. Army’s Program Executive Office for Command, Control and Communication-Tactical (PEO C3T). This initiative, being architected and managed by Data Systems Analysts, Inc., of Trevose, PA, is part of the U.S. Army’s long-term program to deploy state-of-the-art knowledge management systems throughout the Army to increase access to corporate information, foster collaboration, and improve efficiency, while overcoming barriers to geographic and organizational boundaries. SharePoint Products and Technologies are a key component of this initiative.
“We have implemented SharePoint to support hundreds of sites, and needed DocAve to backup and restore quickly from a data spillage without having to take the entire portal down”, said Kathleen Kirk, DSA Program Director. “We needed to move quickly since we are a tactical command supporting BRAC from Ft Monmouth Jersey to Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD.”
The DocAve Software Platform is comprised of 24 independently-deployable modules, all piloted via a unified, browser-based interface, delivering SharePoint backup and recovery, high availability, centralized administration, archiving, storage optimization, geo-replication, reporting, auditing, and migration. The DocAve Software Platform and AvePoint’s other best-of-breed SharePoint tools have been leveraged by military and civilian organizations throughout the U.S. federal government since 2001.
