Error: Unexpected end of stream. expected length = 4, read length = -1
SYMPTOMS:
The actual error is Unexcepted end of stream. expected length = 4, read length = -1. The error message misspells “unexpected”; this is not a typo. In addition, the site collections URLs go blank, and the user has to navigate a few pages over for the actual URLs to be visible. This occurs randomly and randomly resolves itself.
CAUSE:
It is possible that the server is out of memory when these errors occur.
SOLUTION:
Increase the memory on the server.
