OUR STORY

From a public library to offices around the world

In 2001, our founders Kai Gong and TJ Jiang launched our first product to market — a backup solution for Microsoft’s email service, Exchange. Shortly after, their focus quickly turned to providing a backup solution for a new Microsoft product that offered site-based collaboration: SharePoint 2001.

Today, our full suite of data management solutions for Microsoft 365 is hosted across 13 global datacenters for unmatched scalability, and to support data sovereignty requirements. Our cloud platform is certified against leading security accreditations and boasts one of the largest SaaS userbases in the Microsoft 365 ecosystem.

We have pushed the boundaries of enterprise digital collaboration with first-to-market technologies for two decades. More than half of our workforce – including our senior leadership team – are technologists.

Our Brand Meaning

The meaning behind our brand

Our name “AvePoint” was coined by Kai. It was during one of his daily commutes into New York City when he saw Times Square through a new lens. He realized that this place is where the avenues merge, bringing together people, ideas, and energy. Thus “AvePoint” came from the dream that his company could also be this point, at which all avenues come together, to enable collaboration with confidence.

AvePoint’s logo symbolizes a rising sun just above a mountain, but also a person with a bowing head. This duality captures our mission: to dream big and making a positive difference, but always with humility.
