SharePoint Auditing and Enhanced Security for SharePoint Mobility with AvePoint Perimeter Service Pack 3

Burglar Alarm

Our first new SharePoint auditing feature ensures environments remain secure and users utilize SharePoint according to organizational data governance policies, administrators need monitoring and alerting capabilities across the entire system. Burglar Alarm is a new feature within the Perimeter Management console that allows administrators to monitor and proactively respond to the behavior of users engaging in suspicious activities related to:

• Secure File Sharing
• 2-Factor Authentication (2FA)
• Log in attempts from non-authorized locations
• Content downloads from all of SharePoint

These alerts are configurable by administrators, and can be received in the form of email notifications sent to the offending user’s direct manager in Active Directory as well as the Perimeter administrator. For offenders who work outside of the organization, the alert will be sent directly to the Perimeter administrator. With these customizable alerts, administrators can respond swiftly to ensure activities fall within company policy and the environment is kept secure.

Daily SharePoint Auditing and Tracking

The second new SharePoint auditing feature extends your view into SharePoint activity. In addition to system-wide monitoring capabilities, Perimeter SP 3 offers new granular SharePoint auditing capabilities to report on content access, sharing, and downloads for each individual user. Daily Audit Tracking enables administrators to create a single, exportable report of user activity within SharePoint and Perimeter over the course of a specified period of time. This view – which is exportable in CSV format – tracks all user activity across desktop or mobile browsers on multiple devices and operating systems, including:

• Windows Phone
• iOS
• Android

In addition to helping meet organizational record keeping and documentation needs, Daily User Tracking SharePoint auditing feature also provides insights on user activity and mobile access to help future SharePoint initiatives.
