Introducing the DocAve Governance Automation Web Part for Microsoft SharePoint

Governance Automation in Review:

For those not familiar with DocAve Governance Automation, AvePoint recently launched the next generation of its flagship product for automating end-to-end Microsoft SharePoint service and information management and delivered new features for site collection provisioning, site provisioning, site collection lifecycle management, and permissions management with the release Governance Automation Service Pack 1. For more information, please visit our Governance Automation product page.

What’s New?

Would you like to have your users access Governance Automation from right within SharePoint, especially business users already comfortable working in SharePoint on a daily basis? If so, you are in luck as we recently released a Cumulative Update (CU) to Governance Automation Service Pack 1 to allow you to do just that! This latest release provides a web part that displays the business user interface of Governance Automation – exposing the intuitive service catalog and all available options – directly through SharePoint.

The Governance Automation web part can be deployed to SharePoint sites for easy user access throughout the organization. Users with permissions to log in to Governance Automation and the site where the web part is installed will be able to access the web part. The user interface is mostly identical to its counterpart when running the Governance Automation application directly. Governance Automation navigation links are embedded directly into the SharePoint Quick Launch Bar for seamless integration and user experience:

Managers will be able to monitor and approve or reject incoming requests. Business users will be able to perform all the same operations that they can within the Governance Automation application, such as:
· Viewing their personalized service catalog
· Filling out service request forms
· Submitting requests

Last but not least, in order to optimize user experience and seamless integration with SharePoint, single sign-on can be configured so that users do not need to remember separate user names and passwords in order to access the Governance Automation web part. This reduces the time spent re-entering passwords, as users can re-apply the same identity that was used for logging into SharePoint. Now business users can utilize SharePoint as the single point of access for inter-departmental collaboration; request and track SharePoint related resources from IT; and further adopt SharePoint as the powerful collaboration tool it was meant to be.
