“…the future of enterprise computing, it has become increasingly clear, lies with cloud computing services.”
It’s a sentiment that all of us in this industry are used to hearing by now, and one that is quickly proving to be true in many ways. The quote comes from an excellent Wired article by Cade Metz on the recent acquisition of EMC by Dell, and what that means for the industry. Namely, the storage giants of yesterday are quickly giving way to today’s innovators in the cloud – the largest of which being Amazon, Microsoft, and Google.
Organizations no longer need to rely on the same vendors for expensive storage devices that cost even more to maintain to house their business data. The cloud is providing the market with a variety of options to store critical information, rapidly deploy software solutions, and easily deliver services to the business using someone else’s data center and servers. Offerings like Azure, Office 365, and Amazon Web Services enable organizations to easily access their data from anywhere through the internet even faster than yesterday’s on-premises servers would allow.
At AvePoint, we’ve seen interest in the cloud go from curiosity to full on embrace incredibly fast – and that’s from organizations operating at all levels, from small startups to major enterprises and government agencies. To stay ahead of this quickly changing computing landscape and facilitate business innovation, we advise all organizations to have a cloud strategy as they look ahead to future enterprise content management (ECM) initiatives. Not all organizations are ready to go “all in” on the cloud – and some, especially in highly regulated industries, may never be – but hybrid scenarios offer the best of both worlds, keeping data that needs to stay on premises while shifting other workloads into the cloud.
As organizations develop and roll out these strategies, we’re positioned to be a trusted partner every step of the way. Not only do we have the tools to get customers to the cloud and adopt new systems faster than ever before, but we also deliver end-to-end information management, governance, and compliance solutions to help them gain more control over their data no matter where it lives. We’re not just looking ahead, though, as we also understand the complexity and importance that legacy data holds, whether it’s staying on premises or moving to the cloud. Our solutions offer customers robust compliance intelligence, auto-classification and tagging capabilities, taxonomy management, and data analytics to better understand the information they hold and ultimately use it more effectively.
Don’t just take it from me, though. Stories that underscore our strength as a trusted advisor and future-ready solution provider across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid scenarios continue to roll in – whether it’s helping Australia’s Stella Maris College migrate from legacy file shares to Office 365 twice as fast or Netherlands-based Corbion better manage and gain insights on the activity of its 2,000 SharePoint end-users across an Azure-hosted deployment. I encourage you to check out all of our recent success stories.
From our user-facing productivity solutions to products that simplify policy- and content-based governance behind the scenes, AvePoint remains strategically poised to support customers at all phases of their information management journey within this highly disrupted ECM landscape.
