How to Grow Your Business Through Collaboration Security

There’s a ton of opportunity for partners to build compelling products and services based on AvePoint’s technology, so in this four-part series we’re going to focus on our new Grow Your Business partner campaign.

For part one of this P2PNow series, the theme is Collaboration Security. We’ll discuss how MSPs have a key opportunity to provide risk assessments to their customers while leveraging Policies and Insights. Watch the session below or read on for a full transcript!

Christian: Today we’re kicking off the first of a four-part series on how AvePoint partners can grow their business.

Sam: Since the launch of our partner program in July of 2021, AvePoint has been developing and publishing content and, through our partner portal, tools, and guidance to help our partners add to existing business activities or even develop new revenue streams.

Christian: There is a tremendous opportunity for new and existing partners to build solutions and services around AvePoint technology, and the goal of this four-part series-within-a-series is to outline the four major pillars of our Grow Your Business partner campaign.

Sam: I know that you have been working with the product marketing team on a lot of this content. What’s the focus for this segment?

Christian: We’re kicking off this series talking about Collaboration Security.

Sam: Microsoft and a number of other major partners are always talking about collaboration security. What is the scope of the partner opportunity in working with AvePoint?

Christian: Partner should be thinking about creating a Collaboration Security practice. We commissioned research that identified that up to three-quarters of organizations that shifted to Microsoft 365 have deployed Microsoft Teams without proper governance, security, or data protection.

Many organizations assume that because Microsoft has numerous certifications and is secure within their own data centers and with the solutions that they offer, that customers — because they use these secure platforms — are themselves secure. Microsoft makes no such assurances. And so the risks to their data are often the last thing on their minds. They often rely on MSPs to deliver IT services and solutions.

Sam: Well, that sounds like an immediate opportunity for partners.

Christian: Exactly. MSPs have an excellent opportunity to provide risk assessments for their customers. Leveraging AvePoint solutions, such as Policies & Insights, they can help customers identify their security risks, prioritize them, and build a roadmap for securing their systems.

Four key areas that they can focus on include:

  1. Detection: Helping their customers easily identify exposure, such as content with anonymous links or Teams with shadow users
  2. Protection: Helping them to lock down at-risk or sensitive content by expiring or removing Microsoft 365 permissions for in-house or guest users
  3. Automation: Helping them to build policies based on insights and best practices to enforce your tenant guidelines
  4. Accountability: Helping them build time-based security dashboards demonstrate the business impact of administrative actions so you can show the value to your customers

Sam: There is a lot of capability under the hood, for sure. Collaboration security is certainly part of the future of Microsoft 365, and for the entire modern workplace, for that matter. With so many organizations embracing collaboration technology, and with hybrid work so prevalent today — and into the foreseeable future — having a security focus is essential for all of our partners.

Christian: We have a ton of content and expertise in this area, and are excited to work with our partners to add onto existing security practices, or to launch new services.

Sam: As always, it begins by joining the AvePoint partner program, and then working with your partner manager to build out your success plan. If you have not already done so, be sure to join AvePoint’s Partner Program by going to www.avepoint.com/partners.
