You Accepted the Job… Now What?

The time between signing your offer letter and starting your new role can sometimes feel like forever. What do I do in the meantime? What can I expect with my new job? What will the first day be like? Well, we’re here to provide you with all the answers you’ll need!

Our top goal is for every new hire to have an easy and informational on-boarding experience. After all, we want to set you up for a successful career at AvePoint! Here’s what you can expect while pre-boarding, on-boarding, and during your first month at AvePoint.

After you’ve signed your offer letter

Your recruiting POC will be the first to reach out following your signing. He or she will share confirmation of your start date, important resources prior to your first day, and introduce you to our People team.

Our People team will email you at least a week before you start. In this outreach, you’ll receive new hire documents through DocuSign which should be completed before your first day of work. It’ll also cover all things related to your first week (e.g. when to arrive, who to ask for upon arrival, documents to bring, parking instructions, etc.). All communication prior to your start date will ensure you’re fully prepared, but feel free to reach out to your recruiter or the People Team with any questions that pop up.

Your first day

Over the course of your first day, the People team will host a New Hire Orientation which covers the topics such as: who we are, our leadership team, benefits, the employee experience, equipment setup, and events to be aware of (happy hours, community service volunteering days, etc.). Next is a tour of the office, where you’ll get a quick glimpse of the wonderful culture here!

Sometime throughout the day you’ll meet your team, which is a great resource to have as you go through training and start your career here. You’ll also be introduced to your new hire buddy, a person who can help you get acclimated to AvePoint and answer your outstanding questions.

Last, but not least, you’ll receive your training plan, which consists of one-on-one training with our Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), shadowing team members, mock cases (for tech teams), discussion/lecture-style trainings, IT support, and an intro to AvePoint University (APU). Your manager will also set expectations in your new role.

Weeks 1-2

In your first two weeks, you’ll start to become very familiar with tools we use here such as Microsoft Outlook, Teams, HRIS, Greenhouse, Concur, OneDrive, SharePoint, Yammer, and AvePoint University (APU), to name a few. APU has plenty of great training content on our products, services, operational topics, etc. We even have a handy guidebook with links and tips on what tools to use and when.

Your first month

A well-rounded training schedule that’s unique to your role will span anywhere from two weeks to two months. Within this time frame, there will be frequent one-on-one check-ins with your manager to see how things are going. After a month at AvePoint, a People Team member will check in with you. This is the perfect opportunity to provide feedback regarding your full on-boarding experience. What areas have been successful? What can improve for future new hires? You can leave your stamp on AvePoint by providing helpful feedback.
