6 New AvePoint Cloud Updates For November 2021

There are lots of exciting updates rolling out in the AvePoint Cloud this month! Keep reading for an overview of the top six November 2021 updates, and be sure to log into the AvePoint Account Portal for how-to videos, user guides, release notes, and more.

1. Cloud Backup

What’s new in Cloud Backup for Microsoft 365?

In-place Teams conversation restore is now supported, so you can recover your conversations and carry on with the chat! A new container level consumption summary is now available in the downloaded license consumption report to enable chargeback by container. And, searching content is easier than ever with the new option to search by Team/Group name, not just the URL, to identify content to restore.

What’s new in Cloud Backup for Google Workspace?

The ReCenter end user recovery portal is here! ReCenter is a self-service recovery center for personal Drives, Calendars, Contacts, and Email. Access ReCenter from the app launcher in Google Workspace, and jump right in with an interface that follows Google Workspace navigation, complete with labels, metadata, and message previews. Plus, ReCenter is fully security trimmed, so end user activities and issues are appropriately tracked!

What’s new in Cloud Backup for Salesforce?

If you would like to build a simulated Salesforce sandbox environment to test your new add-on solutions, Cloud Backup can help! Utilize restore capabilities to build an emulation sandbox environment with realistic but anonymized customer data that is randomized based on the original content. In addition, when tracking Salesforce backups, you can now customize the homepage to track high-priority objects to ensure restore points for business-critical assets.

2. Cloud Governance

What’s new in Cloud Governance?

Streamline the setup and management of email templates with the new email management platform. The platform offers enhanced multi-language support, improved reference management, import and export capabilities to support movement between Cloud Governance deployments, and a centralized dashboard for easy navigation. This release also offers the new Teams private channel provisioning service, a managed request process for private channel creation – private channels created by Cloud Governance will inherit policies, metadata, and setting from their parent Team.

3. MyHub

What’s new in MyHub?

MyHub now will display applied sensitivity labels for Teams and Groups within the MyHub Interface to help users better understand how workspaces are classified. Additionally, MyHub customers with a Cloud Governance license will now have more control over the deletion of workspaces in hubs. Plus, MyHub will now honor metadata display configurations that are set in Cloud Governance.

4. Cloud Records

What’s new in Cloud Records?

This release continues the journey to expand support for the management of additional content sources outside of Microsoft 365. Records managers can now manage records stored in SharePoint on-premises. Additionally, with new manual approval process enhancements, users can now flexibly extend the disposal time of a record and change the reviewer if it was assigned in error. Plus, disposed record stubs can now be displayed with a customized message to notify users of the file status. New search capabilities now allow you to filter physical records that are currently held by defined users in the Physical Records Explorer to help users quickly locate the records they need. Plus, when selecting criteria fields to search on, records managers can now select multiple fields to run the search query against.

5. Cense

What’s new in Cense?

Map a larger available pool of licenses back to a specific number allowed for each container or line of business for improved license consumption tracking. The dashboard now highlights newly created users who have been added to the environment over the last few months, making it easier to drill down to the impact of new accounts. Shared mailbox reports are now available to measure usage and improve ROI with potential cost recovery for customers who have licenses assigned but fall into one of the free categories. Plus, the last activity date can now be extracted from more apps including Dynamics services, Power BI, Power Apps, FLOW, and VISIO.

6. Policies & Insights

What’s new in Policies?

To evaluate and manage both new and existing external sharing links, Policies has a new setting available at tenant and site levels to specify the period when external sharing links will expire for enhanced security control enforcement. Plus, new tenant level policies to manage multi-factor authentication settings and SharePoint and OneDrive access settings are available in this release. Private channel owner restrictions now ensure a minimum number of private channel owners, and deleted Teams/Groups can now be automatically restored using either a 30-day soft deletion window or admin notification to restore the content. Plus, the new SharePoint Permission Enforcement rule can help control permission levels for specific users and groups on SharePoint sites.

What’s new in Insights?

External users can now be highlighted in directories – mark internal users such as interns, part-time workers, contractors, vendors, or any defined user as an external user based on organization policies, and configure a wildcard search to classify these users right from the start and ensure they appear in external user risk reports.  Risk tables can now help identify external shadow users, and you can now export a full PDF version of the risk dashboard with highlighted risk reports and key findings. Plus, based on role-based access controls, security trimmed users can now access audit records specific to only their sites throughout the interface, and anonymous sharing links can now be set to expire in bulk.

There’s a new Next Gen Platform view for the dashboard – you can view backup status, license information, storage reports, risk insights, policy violations, and workspace insights all from one place! Plus, you can pin customers onto your dashboard for easy monitoring. This release also offers a Next Gen Directory page where you can view and manage customers as well as access reports and support tickets – you can invite new customers, add services, and even start services directly from the directory!
