Great Expectations: The Quest for Gold Continues

There is just one more week left of my internship, and the harsh reality of life moving much quicker than it used to as a child is once again a central theme! With nine weeks under my belt, I can confidently say that this internship has not only molded me as an employee, but also as an individual. It is really easy to lose yourself in the fear of the unknown. I think I can speak for all my fellow interns when I say that we all had a bit of that feeling coming in. Not knowing what to expect can lead to some anxiety, but I am proud to say that our adaptation to the whole process exceeded our expectations.

This self-determination ties in nicely with the Olympic Games currently taking place in London, as I’m sure the athletes competing there are also trying to exceed and excel. With our own office Olympics, where we are all assigned to different countries, employees showed their dedication and collaboration with the first competition: local cuisine and costume contest. It was such a delight seeing how people put in so much hard work to bring in a plethora of dishes, each with tasty infusions from their respective countries. I was also impressed by the creativity put into all of the native traditional garb. I even got into the spirit of things, dressing up as a Belgian. But I must give big props to Sweden, France, and the United Kingdom for being the top winners in round one of the competition! They definitely put effort into both dressing up and the food items they brought in. We still have the cubicle decorating competition left this week, so let’s see if another country can pull out a win or if one of these three teams will pull away from the pack.

I only have one more blog left to write as an AvePoint intern! If you’ve stuck with me thus far, I can’t be more appreciative. I am looking forward to updating my readers on my final week, and I hope these updates were as entertaining to you as they were to write!
