Hello, mates! Last week was a huge week Down Under on the beautiful Gold Coast of Australia for Microsoft TechEd Australia 2012.
The AvePoint team came together from many parts of the world this week to paint the coast red, and what a week it was. For some, including me, it was our first trip to Australia. Our local team stepped up to the challenge by showing us why this event and part of the world are so amazing.
As the exclusive Major Sponsor of TechEd Australia, AvePoint’s presence was prominent from the minute you entered the Gold Coast Convention Center. You couldn’t miss us in the Expo Hall, with our booth located front and center and signature motor bike (this time a Honda CRF230F dirt bike) on display. Our presence also included The AvePoint Interactive Theatre, featuring presentations by industry thought leaders all week long, and our own private office for one-on-one appointments with our Chief Architect and Microsoft SharePoint MVP Jeremy Thake.
Jeremy and AvePoint General Manager, Australia Garth Luke spoke to a full house on Thursday, September 13 on “Presenting Microsoft SharePoint as a Service to Your Organization”. With a standing room only crowd spilling into the halls, the presentation was so popular that Microsoft asked for an encore presentation Friday morning. Jeremy continued his busy week with yet another standing room only presentation with OBS Senior Consultant and SharePoint MVP Mark Rhodes entitled “Real World: SharePoint Customization – Developer vs. IT Pro”. I’m proud to share that this session received the highest ratings from attendees out of all the presentations in the “Office, Office 365 and SharePoint” track for the week! Way to go, Jeremy and Mark!
On Thursday night, AvePoint hosted the #codered Party for about 100 of our closest friends at an exclusive cocktail reception. Microsoft provided a great atmosphere where the drinks, dresses, and lights were all red! The event was a great opportunity to network with partners, customers, and the Microsoft team before heading to the attendee party for some fun and games!
The closing keynote speech on Friday, September 14 was topped off by announcing the winner of the Honda dirt bike on the big stage! Congratulations to Australia’s newest bike rider, Nathan Willoughby, Senior Analyst Programmer at Sunsuper! Check out a photo of Nathan with his new bike and the AvePoint team below.
All in all, it was a great week for AvePoint. The team did an awesome job delivering SharePoint expertise and showcasing our latest innovations for attendees all week long.
