AvePoint at SPTechCon in the City by the Bay

AvePoint recently wrapped up another successful SPTechCon in San Francisco, where we had four days of great conversations, insightful meetings, and opportunities to connect with many friendly faces. Fun fact: AvePoint has been the Diamond Sponsor of the past seven SPTechCon events, and we are also the Diamond Sponsor of the upcoming SPTechCon in Boston from July 22-25, 2012.

To take you through the AvePoint experience at SPTechCon, I ask you to imagine yourself walking into an exhibit hall and up to the AvePoint booth, which is chock full of great documentation about our products as well as gadgets and gizmos for your phones, laptops, and anything that needs a nice, gentle cleaning. To top off the front table, we had a pair of red Beats by Dre headphones up for raffle – congratulations to our winner Jackie Copeland of the New York Power Authority (pictured below)! The AvePoint team had a great time finding musical and creative ways to promote the headphone giveaway, which included some loud hollers and dances.

With two demo stations set up to exhibit DocAve 6, the enterprise-class management platform for SharePoint governance, Director of Education John Peluso enlightened both existing customers and potential clients about what the platform has to offer. DocAve 6 was an eye-catcher to say the least. As soon as we began running a demo, a plethora of individuals would walk up to watch and were quickly impressed with DocAve 6’s interface and thorough ability to simplify SharePoint governance.

Another highlight of AvePoint’s booth was the long, snaking line of attendees waiting for Enterprise Trainer and Evangelist Randy Williams to sign a copy of his latest book, SharePoint 2010 Administration Instant Reference. As Randy signed everyone’s books and took time to speak with each person in line, his passion for SharePoint and dedication to educating the community really shined through.

Other highlights included a “Women in SharePoint” luncheon, where both vendors and prospects gathered to discuss not only solutions and products, but also usability, community, and the adventures of navigating SharePoint. On a related note, be sure to read AvePoint Vice President of Product Marketing Mary Leigh Mackie’s recent blog post on Women in SharePoint. Other events, such as the San Francisco User Group (#SFSPUG) on February 28, took place in conjunction with the conference. A ‘Stump the Panel’ session at SFSPUG was moderated by Microsoft’s Ajay Mistry and included SharePoint experts Bill English, Cathy Dew, Ben Curry, Chris Beckett, and our own Randy Williams. The experts fielded great questions from the audience as well as questions submitted via Twitter from individuals who could not be on site.

Whether you made it to the show or not, be sure to visit our Facebook page to check out photos from the event. Also be on the lookout for interviews with SharePoint experts filmed live from AvePoint’s booth, coming soon to our YouTube channel.

Outside of the show, AvePoint staff had a great time touring the city! To see some photos from my time in San Francisco, check out my album on Google+.

We hope to see all of you at SPTechCon in Boston this summer! In the interim – what did you love (or not) about SPTechCon in San Francisco? What would you like to see from us in Boston? Leave a comment below and let us know!
