David Robinson began his career in records / information management in Australia which now encompasses 30+ years in the profession, having worked across all levels of government in Australia. Some of the records collections he’s helped preserve include World War I & II veteran records, scientific studies of pest animals (mice, foxes & rabbits) and native animals (cockatoos & kangaroos) as well as permanent local history of 6 local government agency’s council agendas, minutes and reports. It is his love of all things historical that drives his professional interest in records / information management.
Starting his career as a Junior Administration Clerk back in 1985 in Local Government, Victoria. Currently David is working as the Coordinator Information Management at Moorabool Shire Council (between Melbourne and Ballarat, Victoria). He has been with Moorabool Shire Council since 2018 where he has led the Information Management / ICT teams to implement SharePoint / MS TEAMS as Council’s document management system with AvePoint’s assistance to migrate, manage, and protect Microsoft 365 and SharePoint data, which according to AvePoint is their customers second largest data holding.
He has recently implemented new naming conventions to support the new Document management system, a project mysteriously named “Project X” which was nominated for the RIMPA - Vic/Tas Branch 2021 awards. The project’s central story implores the audience to help “make history together.”
