New DocAve 5.0 simplifies SharePoint backup strategies with business-aware and SLA-driven data protection

With SharePoint becoming an organization-wide mission-critical platform, a viable content backup strategy must be properly associated with business importance to ensure that every organization's multi-tiered service level agreements (SLA's) are met.

Core to DocAve's new Backup and Recovery module is our exclusive Business Criticality Matrix, which automatically classifies SharePoint content according to business importance as well as usage activity. This allows you to optimize storage and system resources with automated classification and execute rule-based backups based on real-time item-level data analyses. Here is how it works:

Define the Business Importance of each Site, either in SharePoint under Site Settings or from the DocAve console.

The Business Criticality Matrix can be setup that best fits your needs: it can be adjusted to display multiple levels of Business Importance and Modification Frequency.

DocAve will automatically associate your sites to the appropriate cell within the matrix based on your site's Business Importance setting as well as the content's update frequency. It will also automatically adjust its placement within the matrix if the site's criticality or activity changes to fit another cell.

Configure your matrix and create an unlimited number of customized backup plans and templates, capable of meeting the constantly changing needs of your organization.

Apply the most frequent backup plans (hourly or daily) to your most aggressive SLAs. The most critical, most highly accessed sites will automatically be protected by those plans.

Sites that are rarely accessed or hold little importance will fall in place logically, with lower importance sections of the matrix that can be backed up on a monthly basis.

DocAve allows you to gather data size, backup plan information, schedule times, and even multi-node URL trees to allow users to view the content selection within the plan with greater detail.

Greatly simplified point-in-time restore controller will ensure easy and accurate restore of an item, site, subsite or an entire platform.

You will not need to navigate through fields of media agents and configurations. You will simply view all backups scheduled within a specified time interval. Users can likewise perform a full-text search to more easily narrow down the content that needs to be recovered.
